Weekly Wednesday WIP Roll Call; ep. 12

Where we hold ourselves to account for the obscene number of ongoing projects we may or may not have.

I’ve managed to finish joining the squares of the Caravan Granny Blanket this week! I’m still pondering how to approach the border. Continue in the same colours, or take the opportunity to add in a few more? Clash or coordinate? (Always more, always clash.) I’ll be sure to keep you posted as the weeks go on.

I’m also making a quick chunky acrylic crochet hat that my brother has commissioned. He has a smallish budget for secret Santa, but wanted to treat his recipient to something homemade. I suggested some softer yarns but the budget was the deciding factor, really. We are adding a furry pompom to posh it up a bit! Nearly finished this, just waiting on additional yarn. I’ll share some photos when it’s done, since it currently looks quite boring!

Apparently this year is the year of knitted gift hats, I cast on another this weekend and as you can see it is almost finished! This is hat number four in the last month so I’m feeling pretty accomplished. This is the Who? hat pattern from the seemingly no longer updated Penguin Purls blog. It’s a sweet hat with cabled owls above the ribbing knit using Cascade 220 in Mineral Blue. I have two potential recipients for this hat but haven’t decided yet but I shall make a proper Tada post for once it has been given.

As for Jake, he is coming along nicely! I need to sew those pinned pieces on properly and attach his arms. Still need to make his tail, legs and the black part of his nose. He’s working together quicker than I expected which makes me feel a little bit guilty for having him in hibernation for so long! It might be giving me illusions of grandeur though as I keep seeing awesome amigurumi patterns on Ravelry for Dr. Who and My Little Pony characters that I really want to make. I’ll concentrate on finishing Jake and Finn for now and see if I have amigurumi fatigue at the end before making any decisions on that front!

Hopefully today will have been spent having a quick tidy of our living room and putting up the Christmas decorations. I need to figure out how toddler safe I can make the tree which will be interesting. I’m looking forward to chilling out in front of the tree with a hot drink and some knitting, perhaps a new cast on if I can’t help myself!
